Colchester secured promotion with an excellent win at West Norfolk.

Needing only a draw to go up Colchester were keen to keep the momentum of this season going with another victory and move a step nearer to the league title.

Colchester coach Tim Grimsey, who was not able to be at the game at West Norfolk, was pleased to secure the promotion, but he said it will take more than that to put a real smile on his face.

He said: “We beat them by 57 points at home and we knew it would be different at their place.

“It is a long journey and you have to stay focused to get your mindset right and that takes a bit more doing.

“We knew they would be a stronger side there, but we scored three tries and did not concede any.

“It is good to keep them to a try-count of zero and just a couple of penalties.

“However, it is not job done.

“That is only part one of the job as we still have the title to go for, the Suffolk Cup final and the Eastern Counties Cup.”
