BRAINTREE will be starting 2015 still looking for their first win of the season.

And it is going to be a tough challenge tomorrow when the London League division two north east strugglers head to table-topping Chelmsford.

Braintree lost 63-14 when the teams met at Robbs Wood earlier in the season.

Chelmsford have only lost two matches so far, against Diss and Campion, who sit in second and third place respectively.

Chelmsford have a slender one-point lead at the top of the table so will be looking for a bonus point win against the Black and Ambers.

It will also be a difficult weekend for division three north east basement boys Clacton.

The Seasiders face a tough trip to unbeaten leaders Sudbury.

In Eastern Counties division one, Mersea IslanD will be looking to bounce back from their 15-8 defeat at Ipswich YM before the Christmas break.

The Islanders will be looking for a win against second-from-bottom Swaffham at the Glebe tomorrow to try and consolidate a mid-table place and avoid being dragged down into a relegation battle.

Mistley will be trying to do what no-one else has this season, take points off Eastern Counties division two south unbeaten leaders Colchester seconds.

Third-place Mistley entertain Colchester at Furze Hill tomorrow and will be looking to avenge the 94-3 defeat handed to them at Mill Road.

Mistley chairman William Meston said: “Colchester probably shouldn’t be allowed to have a team in our league. With such a huge squad, it’s very difficult for the likes of us to compete with them.

“In terms of resources, they’re miles ahead of us and others.

“They beat us comfortably in the first game between the sides and it’s likely they’ll go up this season “But we certainly don’t fear them and are looking forward to the challenge.

“We’ll do our very best and our overall aim is definitely a top-three finish. That would be a real achievement.”

Second-placed Harwich & Dovercourt travel to fifth-place Ipswich seconds looking to keep the pressure on the leaders.

Bottom-of-the-table Brightlingsea entertain Stowmarket seconds.
