Colchester Hockey Club’s pre-season begins in earnest tomorrow when the ladies’ first XI takes part in friendly matches against Watton and Bury.
On Saturday, September 6, the men’s first XI has a friendly at the Garrison against Ipswich (pushback at 12.30 pm).
From 2pm there will be men’s club trials, with all new and old members encouraged to come along and this will be followed at 3.30pm by a ladies’ first XI friendly.
Club training for both men and women begins on Monday between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at the Garrison hockey pitch and anybody who is interested in joining is welcome to attend, including under-15s and under-17s.
The ladies’ league season begins on September 20 and the men’s gets under way a week later.
To coincide with the start of the new season, The Holly and the Rose: a History of Colchester Hockey Club will be unveiled at a book launch at the clubhouse, at the Castle Park from 7pm on Saturday, September 27.
