WITHAM were in confident mood after last week's success but found a very young and fit side who showed why they are second in the Essex Women's League division one by winning 3-1.

Redbridge took an early lead but Witham keeper and player-of-the-match Angie Falp decided to shut up shop and made a string of fine saves to keep Witham in the match.

Witham then seemed to recover their recent form and had Redbridge defending constantly for the rest of the first half. Witham came out of the blocks in the second half determined to continue that position and Gayle Blacker hammered in a superb short corner to level the score.

Witham should then have wrapped the game up going agonisingly close on several occasions, but Redbridge forced their way back into the game and scored twice in quick succession to put the game beyond Witham's reach.

Witham keeper Falp made another series of fine saves to deny them increasing their lead and Witham again made a late flurry of attacks to try and salvage a point but it was not to be.
