CLACTON put in a sturdy performance but the visiting Ramgarhia were too strong on the day and ran out 6-2 winners in East Men's League division three south east.

The Seasiders started brightly, soaking up attacks and defending early short corners before going down the other end to earn their own short corner.

Clacton made their set-piece count at the first time of asking when Ric Coleman laid in a perfectly-weighted pass to Rob Lukey who deflected into the net for 1-0.

The visitors continued to press hard but were once again frustrated to find Mike Key in fine form, with Clacton's defenders of Colin Hook, Gavin Underhay, John Hambrook and Alex Mortimer coming out on top in the early exchanges.

In midfield, Densil Donovan made a welcome return to get a full game under his belt, making good progress down the left, while Lukey fed Coleman and Sam Hodge from the right.

Carl Parkes, Jamie Roberts and Tom Blake fought hard but were unable to dominate their opponents.

Ramgarhia had a purple patch where they scored four goals in quick succession to put the result out of sight.

Clacton played some flowing hockey going forward with Donovan, Hodge, Coleman and Lukey all linking well.

The Seasiders' problem was getting the ball to their attacking force, with the visitors closing down well and pressurising Clacton into mistakes.

The Seasiders did have their attacking moments and from a free hit outside the circle Parkes found Lukey, who picked out Hodge in the circle to earn a short corner.

Parkes this time fed Coleman, who fired home for Clacton's second.

The visitors ran out 6-2 winners with Clacton's man-of-the-match, keeper Mike Key, keeping the scoreline respectable.
