SOME superb scores were recorded as Playgolf Colchester hosted their AP Masters.

Lee Kidger (six) took the Green Jacket with an excellent gross 74 at the competition, the first major of their golfing calendar.

Kidger's round consisted of 11 pars and two birdies including a par-three two to earn him victory in the competition, which was set to individual medal play requiring four balls as there was such a large field.

Jack Moutell (6) was second with his gross 76, which included eight pars and a brace of par-four birdies.

Steve Loran (11) carded gross 77 to take third place with 11 pars, earning a shot handicap cut while Josh Stephenson (16) took top nett prize with a superb nett 64, earning a shot handicap cut.

Malcom Corris (20) was second with his nett 65, also earning a shot handicap cut.

Bernard Martin was third on countback from Geoff Backhouse after both carded level-CSS nett 68.

Par three, nearest the pin prizes went to Mick Farr, Darren Kerr and Simon Longman.

Paul Dafforn put on a superb day of golf and presentation of prizes and the day was a great success.

Playgolf Colchester's Thornton Cup squad lost 10-5 at Woolston Manor but there were many positives from their young guns.

Conor Garvey and Jack Moutell and John Tait and debutant Paul McDermott claimed points, in the morning pairs.

John Tait, Jack Blackman and Conor Garvey took winning points in the singles matches.

Senior vice-captain Stephen Peeling won the Playgolf Seniors' All Winners' Cup with a gross score of 85 (nett 68).

Michael Johnson was runner-up with nett 71 and Steve Turner took third with nett 72.

Turner was also the only player on the day to score a birdie on a par three, winning a sleeve of balls.

The Also Ran stableford was played before the All Winners event, with in-form Robert Few comfortably winning with 38 points.

Alan Cole was second (32 points), a point ahead of Steve Barker.

Lucy Sadler won division one of the Ladies Monthly Medal with an excellent nett 72.

Sadler finished four shots ahead of her nearest rival Judith Peeling, who carded nett 76.

Ruth Amoss carded nett 77 to finish third, followed closely by Nicky Withycombe (78).

Linda Marshall won division two with nett 83 pipping Shirley Birkin by a shot, with Jan Blackmore (nett 85) finishing third.

Playgolf Ladies' Harris Bowl team recorded a 5-0 win over Essex Golf and Country Club, in the first round.
