TIM Bailey carded the winning score in Playgolf Colchester Golf Club's Easter Tankard.

Bailey (24), with his unassailable 43-point tally, finished ahead of runner-up John Chaplin (19) who carded 38 points.

Chaplin won a four-way countback tie to take second place from third-placed Dave Goodings (21).

This left Daniel Weston (23) and Matthew Clarke (16) out of the podium places, in fourth and fifth.

A large field contested the Playgolf Colchester Captains Waltz team competition.

The event sees the best score on the first hole, best two on the second hole and all three scores on the third, repeating through to the finish.

The recent wet weather made for receptive and reactive greens which with the right shot choice and execution, can make for some great target golf.

The team of Darren Kerr, Chris Soton and Ivan Southernwood blitzed the field with a wide winning margin.

They carded an amazing total of 83 points, five ahead of second-placed trio Dave Defraitas, Mich Herant and Adam Southgate (78 points).

Tim Baily, Alan Pearman and Martin Kilbey topped a three-way countback tie, for third place.

The course played well for the Playgolf Senior Trevor Cocksedge Easter Trophy.

Robert Few (25) carried on his recent run of good form to record a very impressive nett 64, to win by four shots.

New senior member John Eade (21) also carded an under-par score, with his nett 68 taking second place.

Tony Millington (23) took third place with his nett 70.

Competition sponsor Trevor Cocksedge (13) was fifth with the lowest gross score on the day, gross 84 (13 H/C), 71 nett.

Bruce Poole, Jerry Dalton, Colin Green and David Field each earned a sleeve of balls for par-three birdies.
