LEE Whitten was the cream of the crop when Playgolf Colchester staged their All Winner’s Cup.

The event, which featured all of last year’s competition winners, took place in decent weather and the course conditions were good.

Whitten (16) carded seven pars and a par four birdie for a score of nett 65, to top the single division field.

Glen Saunders (16) carded eight pars to take second place, on countback from Daniel Haste (23).

Haste carded an excellent seven pars and a par four birdie.

All the top three players earned a shot cut for their next time out.

Danny Withycombe won the Also-Ran Shield with a level CSS of 38 points.

Shaun Evans took second place, on 36 points, with John Frost third, on 35.

This week's seniors' competition saw a very large field take to the course for a fun day of golf.

The event was played to the traffic lights format.

This saw individuals alternating tee offs from the red, yellow and white tees.

Division one was won by Paul Marsh, with 38 points.

In second was Steve Turner, with 37, and in third was John Edgell, with 32.

Division two was won by improving newcomer Michael Richardson, with 37.

In second was another inform player, Cliff Sturley, with 36, and past captain Brian Ruffell was third, on 31.

There were two players with par three birdies, taking a sleeve of balls each, and they were Paul Marsh (on 16) and Greg King (on the third).
