PLAYGOLF Colchester's Seniors took to the course to contest the Senior Spring Cup.

The day saw good course conditions with a mini-respite from the recent winter conditions.

However, senior captain Stephen Dale decided that the bunkers would be Ground Under Repair (GUR) following heavy rain preceding the competition, so it was a non-qualifier.

Robert Few (25) mastered the conditions better than the rest, doing what he had to get over the line ahead of Steve Loran (10) by one shot.

Few scored an impressive nett 67, with Loran carding the lowest gross score of 78 (nett 68) thanks to eight pars and a birdie.

Improving vice-captain, Stephen Peeling, took third place with his 72 nett.

He recorded three pars and an impressive hole-in-one, on the par-three 16th hole.

Peeling's awesome feat was easily the shot of the day, with the milestone achieved on the par-three 16th hole.

His well-struck iron sailed towards the flag, hit the green, rolled out to hit the flagstick and dropped in the hole to his amazement.
