SUE Latham was the England Golf Medal winner for 2017, for Stoke by Nayland Golf Club.

She will now go on to enter the Bridgestone Chase your Dream Trophy in May, to qualify for the Regional Finals.

The top ten players will then progress to the National Finals.

Betty Cox was overall winner as Stoke by Nayland GC Ladies held their nine-hole stableford on the Gainsborough course.

She secured 21 points in the bronze division, finishing two points ahead of runner-up Maryan Griffiths and four ahead of Maureen Adams, who was third.

In the silver division, Jane Golding won with 21 points ahead of runner-up Anne Hemmings (19 points) and third-placed Mandy Byham (18 points).

Caroline Lowe was first in the Copper Division with 15 points.

A total of 26 ladies took part in the competition, with only two temporary greens.

Players had a choice of Blue or Yellow tees, with almost equal number of ladies playing off each tee.

After the match the Ladies were invited to a Charity Social, with lots of the ladies bringing in several items to donate to the Sudbury Food Bank.
