A STEADY score helped Martin Cotton claim victory in the Three Clubs and a Putter competition at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club.

Cotton (ten) scored 37 points to beat David Sawyer (15) and Peter Hele (19), who both had the same number of points on the Constable Course.

He said the key to his game was putting and chipping well to maintain a steady score.

Cotton's three club choices were his driver, a six iron and a pitching wedge.

A total of 46 members took part and despite the cold and the early flurry of snow, everyone completed the day’s golf.

Corinne Jackson emerged as winner of the Stoke by Nayland GC Ladies nine-hole competition.

She scored 15 points on the Gainsborough Course back nine, as a field of 27 players battled it out on a bright but cool day.

After the threat of icy conditions early on, the temperature rose to avoid the need for temporary greens.

The ladies have the choice to go off either the blue tees, making it a slightly shorter course or the yellow tees making it a longer, slightly more difficult course.

Jackson emerged victorious playing off the yellow tees, with no ladies deciding to go off the blue tees this week.
