STOKE by Nayland Golf Club have booked their place in this year's Jubilee Cup Final.

They will face holders Crondon Park, after beating Stockbrook Manor 7½-1½ in their semi-final.

A strong Stoke team were 6-0 up after the singles and carried on into the afternoon taking the first point in the pairs matches.

A further halved match and a loss saw them wrap up victory and book a meeting with Crondon Park at Cannons Brook GC, on September 24.

Sixty players took to the Gainsborough course for Stoke by Nayland GC's inaugural Seniors Open.

Twenty-two different clubs were represented, including the likes of Brett Vale, Braintree and Rushmere.

Despite the inclement weather the day was a great success and plans are afoot for a second Stoke by Nayland Seniors Open in 2018.

The prizes were presented by Seniors captain Norman Davidson who as well as congratulating the winners thanked the organisers Lionel and Pauline Hatch and volunteers.

Brett Vale duo Gareth Morgan and Bob Holmes won on countback ahead of runners-up Trevor Green and David Hawes from Braintree GC, after both pairs finished on 44 points.

Braintree GC duo Robert Barrell and Bill O’ Riordan were third with 42 points, ahead of Maurice Anderson and John Turnbull of Theydon Bois who scored 41 points to finish fourth on countback.
