MAL Went was the overall winner as Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club's ladies away day and county team held a fundraising event at Seckford Golf Club.

She won with an impressive 38 stableford points from the 18 holes, in a field of more than 20 ladies.

Stoke by Nayland's Ladies versus Lady Vets annual nine-hole encounter celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Over the years, honours have been fairly even but on this occasion, the Ladies team had a very good win.

The match was first contested in 1991 and a decade later, Lilian Osborne gave the Ladies’ Captain, Pamela Randle, the porcelain Lady to present as a Trophy.

It was decided that it should be used for the Ladies versus Lady Vets match and Lilian, 86, took part in this year's match.

She is still using some golf clubs that surely must be nearly as old as her but still hits that ball straight and true!
