RICHARD Swindells produced a superb display to claim victory in Playgolf Colchester’s Easter Tankard stableford competition.

Swindells (eight) returned to form to win division one with a superb display, in very windy conditions.

Par (36 points) looked to be a good score for the conditions, where the pacey greens rewarded accuracy, yet punished anything out of position with some tricky pin positions set.

But Swindells had a good short-game day and carded a winning gross 74 for 40 points, earning a shot handicap cut.

His card highlights included a steady 12 pars backed up with a birdie on the par four 12th, after hitting a 120 yard approach to three feet.

Sam Durrant (12) was runner-up after carding 35 points with highlights of eight pars and a par-five birdie on the second hole.

Tom English (six) was third with ten pars and a pair of birdies on the par-three third and par-four 17th.

Stephen Allen (15) topped a three-way countback decision on 37 points in division two along with runner-up Alex Crawford (16) and third placed in-form junior member Conor Garvey (17).

Allen carded six pars, four on the back nine, as part of his winning score.

Dave Gooding (25) won division three with 35 points, two ahead of runner-up Miguel Ruiz (23).

Junior member Harry English (27) played some good golf to finish third with 32 points.

Ken Ellsmore won the Seniors Spring Cup with a nett score of 67.

Jerry Dalton was runner-up on countback with 69 nett, ahead of third-placed Tony Millington.

The par-three twos winners were John Edgell, Jeremy Dalton, Alan Short, Roy Hull, Len Almond and Mervyn Harwood.

Maria Stallwood took victory over Lucy Sadler on countback in division one of the March stableford, after both players carded 33 points.

Ann Longman was third, two points adrift on 31 points.

In division two, Maureen Dale won on a six-hole countback decision to finish ahead of Shirley Birkin after both carded 32 points, with Pauline Jordan in third place.
