COLCHESTER Swimming Club's youngsters were back to their best as they dominated their latest Essex Mini League meet.

They claimed top spot with an impressive 191 points in the third-round meet, staged at the Aqua Centre in Brentwood.

Colchester comfortably saw off Rochford (164), Harlow (124), Maldon (117) and Brentwood (112).

Colchester SC team manager Emma Jordan said: “The team was faultless. It was a magnificent meet with a number of fantastic individual and relay performances from both our younger and older squad members.

"The whole team performed amazingly and should be very confident going into our next fixture.”

Hannah Karlson got Colchester off to the perfect start by winning the 50 metres backstroke (11 and under) in 42.31 seconds.

Two further first-place finishes quickly followed with success coming in the 4x1 medley relay with Gabby Troman, Emi Bilton, Gabby Cornish and Naomi Sandercock taking the nine-year old girls’ race and Stanley Newson, Alex Cottrell, Elliot Whitehouse and Seth Belshaw taking the honours in the equivalent boys’ race.

Another Colchester double came in the ten and under 50m breaststroke with Roisin Higgins (50.31s) and Eoin Ledwidge (50.25s) both winning in fine style.

The first places continued at pace and Annie Bayliss (36.75 in the girls' open back 50m), Keziah Cornish (44.82 in the girls' 13&U 50m breaststroke) and Dan Himsworth (42.62 in the boys' 13&U 50m breaststroke) all secured winning times.

The points kept stacking up, with Mark Milburn (boys' 13 and under 50m backstroke, 36.37s), Anjali Tuckwell (girls' 10 and under 25m butterfly, 18.06s), Harrison Brook (boys' 10 and under 25m butterfly, 20.06s), Paige Scott (girls' 11&U 50m butterfly, 40.50s) and Isaac Pavey (boys' open 50m breaststroke, 38.88s) all taking maximum points.

There were also a number of sensational relay races, with Brontë Jordan and Isaac Pavey coming up from the rear in exciting fashion to take maximum points.

Colchester SC won the girls' 6x1 butterfly (1m 48.62s), nine years 4x1 freestyle (1m 19.75s girls'; 1m 18.25s boys'), 6x1 breaststroke (2m 08.43s girls'; 2m 01.94s boys') and 10 and under 4x1 freestyle (1m 13.25s girls'; 1m 11.00s boys').

The night finished fittingly with Colchester victorious in the mixed squad 10x1 freestyle relay (9, 10, 11, 13, open) in a time of 2m 40.87s.
