COLCHESTER cycle race team Amis Velo competed in round three of the Mud, Sweet and Gears Eastern Mountain Bike Series.
The event was held adjacent to the Lee Valley Olympic velodrome on a very demanding 5.5km course, with the total race distance being 32km.
In the vet 40 race, Keith Randle was unable to maintain his 15th-place series standing after sustaining a broken knee cap training in Majorca.
In the vet 50 race, Paul Barrow raced to a great sixth place and Mark Cushing followed in 14th.
Making a comeback after serious injury, Gary Morgans finished in a gutsy 35th place, vowing to come back for more.
Round two winner and series leader Mark Wellsted tangled with a back marker, unfortunately, crashing out and being unable to continue.
He was fortunate to escape injury.
In just over a week, he will be heading to Italy to compete in the 1,000km non-stop Italy divide race.
