SOME excellent scores were recorded as Playgolf Colchester Golf Club hosted a stableford competition.

A large field were rewarded with good course conditions and receptive greens, which saw accurate approach play rewarded.

The greens were rolling well for the time of year and the putts were dropping, with some impressive scores returned.

Mick Farr (12) won division one with his putter red hot - he carded 39 points and racked up a consistent 11 pars.

Improving Alan Smith (13) carded eight pars and the only two of the day to take second place with 38 points.

He was runner-up on countback after finishing just ahead of Paul McDermott (ten), who carded 10 pars.

Peter Quilty (17) won division two on 38 points with a consistent nine pars.

Dave Defreitas (15) took second place with eight pars finishing a point ahead of club captain Rob Cornish (14) on 36 points, carding six pars.

Division three saw the highest score of the day, with Andreas Fantousi (18) scoring 43 points.

His card was made up five pars and a par-four birdie on the difficult 12th hole.

Trevor Hollingsworth (18) carded a trio of pars to card 36 points for second place while Andrew Southgate (25) was third on countback from Bernard Keyes (25), after both players carded 35 points.

A good-sized field took part in Playgolf Colchester's seniors' Texas Scramble.

The team of R Spencer, P Saye and R Farmer won with a super score of 63.6, closely followed by S Dale, J Dalton and D Palmer who were just the handicap difference away on 63.7.

J Cashman, J Sealey and J Homewood took third place, with 64.2.
