COLCHESTER United club captain Luke Prosser has been denied the chance to get more minutes under his belt following the postponement of today's under-23 match at Charlton Athletic.
The sides had been due to meet in a lunchtime contest at the Addicks' training ground, at Sparrows Lane.
It had been switched from The Valley last week.
However, following miserable, wet weather this morning, a late decision was made to postpone the game.
The call-off was a blow for Prosser, after his return to the first team at the weekend, while recent signings Ryan Gondoh and Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe were due to get their first taste of football in a U's shirt.
Prosser came on as a second-half substitute for Ryan Inniss in Saturday's 3-1 loss at Wycombe Wanderers' Adams Park.
He was making his first League Two appearance since November 2016, following a long-term knee injury.
The U’s club captain was delighted to finally return to action, after a hugely frustrating 14 months on the sidelines, but said the disappointing defeat put a big downer on the afternoon.
This week also sees Colchester's under-18s in action at the Weston Homes Community Stadium as they take on MK Dons in the FA Youth Cup tomorrow (kick-off 7pm).
Colchester's under-15 starlets are in Premier League Floodlit Cup action when they take on East Anglian rivals Norwich City at Maldon and Tiptree's Park Drive stadium on Thursday evening.
Kick-off is at 6.30pm.
