Macauley Bonne was on target as Colchester United's under-23s ran out 2-1 winners at Crystal Palace, in Professional Development League Two.

The U's came from behind to win at Dulwich Hamlet FC, after trialist Kristopher de Graca's own goal gave them victory.

Wayne Brown's side, which featured trialists Kodi Lyons-Foster from Bristol City and Huddersfield Town midfielder Sam Warde, had been looking for a response, following their 7-1 home trouncing at the hands of QPR last week.

The U's almost took a second-minute lead when Bonne nearly capitalised on Da Graca's underhit backpass but was unable to flick his shot past the keeper.

However Colchester fell behind on 26 minutes from a move that saw a cross stood up to the centre and Luke Dreher's shot bobbled into the net off a post.

The U's were back on terms six minutes later though.

Tariq Issa broke down the left and crossed for Bonne to equalise and send the visitors in at the break on level terms.

And three minutes after the interval, de Graca's wayward long-range back-pass eluded home keeper Perntreou and ended up in the net.

The goal gave Colchester a boost and they dominated for most of the second half, with several chances falling to Bonne.

It was not until the last five minutes that Palace threatened as several corners were forced.

The U's keeper Dillon Barnes made a fine save right under the bar from the header by Brewster to preserve his side's lead near the end, as they claimed a narrow victory.
