WIVENHOE TOWN boss Mo Osman had no complaints after his side’s win-less run continued following a 2-0 defeat against Hadleigh United.

The Dragons went into Saturday’s Thurlow Nunn League premier division contest without a victory since October 1.

Their miserable run spanned 14 games – 13 in the league and a League Challenge Cup exit at the hands of Ipswich Wanderers.

And unfortunately that sequence was extended to 15 games after suffering another defeat, at the Maple Tree Cars Stadium.

The Suffolk side scored goals in both halves and took the lead when a low cross from the right was turned in from close range.

Their second came late on and was a low shot from distance, after a misplaced pass in defence.

“We can’t have any complaints about the result,” admitted Osman.

“We were second best but there’s no point moping about.

“We just have to put it behind us and move on.”

In contrast to Wivenhoe, FC CLACTON travelled in confident mood for their tricky fixture at Great Yarmouth Town.

Having been rock bottom and 11 points adrift of safety, four wins, a draw and a defeat from their previous six games had represented an incredible turnaround for Kieron Shelley’s men.

And the Seasiders’ encouraging form continued thanks to a 1-1 draw on the Norfolk coast.

Yarmouth took the lead early on but Clacton levelled just before half-time, when new signing Sam Cripps hammered home after Kevin Coyle’s pass.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC’S match at home to Swaffham Town was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

STANWAY ROVERS were not due to play anyway.

There was no doubting the top game in division one – on paper at least – with leaders COGGESHALL TOWN entertaining second-placed Stowmarket Town.

However, the afternoon was to end in controversial circumstances.

Coggeshall, boosted by the recent signing of striker Jamie Shaw from Stanway, started the day with a six-point lead over their Suffolk rivals.

And Shaw wasted no time in opening his account, breaking the deadlock before Nnamdi Nwachuku made it 2-0 at West Street.

However, the game was abandoned midway through the second half due to safety concerns about the freezing pitch.

One area was considered unplayable and so the officials brought proceedings to an early halt – much to Coggeshall’s disappointment.

Elsewhere, HALSTEAD TOWN and HOLLAND FC had been due to be on their travels in Suffolk.

The Humbugs were set to visit Team Bury while Holland were due at Needham Market Reserves.

However, both matches were postponed because of frozen pitches.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES won 3-1 at Leiston Reserves.
