Southend Rugby Club have pleaded guilty to an RFU charge of failing to control their supporters following their fiery match against Colchester.

The Saxons are still awaiting the final ruling of the investigation following an incident which is believed to have involved a touch-judge during the Blacks' 18-16 defeat at Warners Bridge in October.

Three of Southend’s players – Danny Cleare, Ian Morrison and Dylan Day-White have also been handed suspensions for their part in the incident, with Morrison banned for 18 weeks.

The club are not commenting on the situation until the RFU complete their investigation but Southend, who are just above the relegation zone in London Three London & SE, also face the possibility of being docked points.

Colchester host Southend at Mill Road again in the league a week on Saturday.
