Sarah Claxton feels her decision to take a complete break from competitive athletics will enhance rather than harm her Olympic ambitions.

The 30-year-old double Olympic sprint hurdling star from Colchester has made the decision to take “time out” for the rest of this year to strengthen her body after a year of injury woe throughout 2009.

Since running in the final of the 100 metre hurdles at the Beijing Games two years ago, Claxton has suffered from a succession of Achilles and hamstring injuries and finally decided enough was enough.
