Braintree and District Athletic Club’s Aleasha Kiddle secured a lifetime best at the prestigious U20 Aviva Indoor Championships.
She gained valuable experience among some of the finest athletes of her age in the UK at the event, at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena.
As a first-year competitor at the age of 16, Kiddle achieved an indoor lifetime best in the long jump with a leap of 5.37 metres.
She achieved it with her first jump but it was still good enough to get her into the final.
After this first jump the Braintree athlete was unable to get her run up right and had five consecutive no jumps, placing her fifth in the competition.
This was no disgrace though, as on the rankings list of competitors, Kiddle was fifth.
Later in the day, Kiddle ran in the heats of the 60m, recording a personal best (PB) of 7.89 seconds.
She followed that up on Sunday with a fourth-place finish in the 200m final.
