COLCHESTER Harriers were in impressive form at the popular Sudbury Easter five-mile road race.

Tom Cresswell and Becky Cooke both finished as runners-up, while Colin Ridley ran his normal fast pace to finish fourth.

Paul Rodgers and Allen Smalls also claimed top-ten finishes, to give the Green Vests the team prize.

Youngster Ermeaus Aferwerki was at the front for most of the race but did not quite have the stamina for five miles.

However, he still ran well under 30 minutes.

Ellie Cumner ran a fine race to finish third overall with a one-second personal best (PB).

Other good Harriers runs came from Simon Smith, Chris Manby, Arthur Whiston, Dan Wilkinson and Wayne Cook.

The Colchester Castle Park Run had a fine turnout of 414 runners, with Angus Holford winning in 16 minutes 53 seconds.

Nathan Filer (17m 15s) and Danny Millward (17m 17s) completed the first three runners home.

Max Caulfield (eighth), John Fryer (tenth), Jon Nears (12th), Joe Boden (15th) and Ollie Gifford (16th) were all top-20 finishers.

Andrea James ran a storming race to win the ladies in 20m 13s, while Ben Caulfield run a PB.

The Mersea Park run saw Paul Rodgers finish second and Pete West fourth.

Russell Goodridge was seventh, just ahead of eighth-placed Jerry Walder who claimed a PB.

Harriers' Richard Heath was runner-up at the Great Cornard event in 17m 48s.

Alexandra Williamson was fourth (18m 46s, PB) and Wayne Cook (18m 47) fifth, with both running well at the Harwich sea front Park run.
