COLCHESTER Harriers teenager Charlie Dobson's gold-medal performance at the England Indoor Age Group Championship has earned him a place in this weekend's Welsh International.

The talented 200 metres runner was in stunning form at the EIS in Sheffield, as he clocked a huge personal best (PB) of 21.02 seconds.

Dobson landed the championship title and his superb time now places him third quickest overall, this year.

He finished metres ahead of the field, which included a Junior European Commonwealth Games semi-finalist.

Dobson had earlier sailed confidently through both his heat (21.61s) and semi-final (21.66s), easing down to the line on both occasions after ensuring he was under no threat.

After a four-hour wait, he then displayed sublime running technique in the final, as he attacked the bends seamlessly on his way to victory.

Dobson will now compete in the Welsh International, which will be held in Cardiff on Sunday.

Harriers' Rebecca Jeggo, fresh from her debut appearance at the British Championships, was also in action in Sheffield.

She was first up in heat three of the under-20 women’s 200m race.

Despite a slight hesitant start, she hit the finish line in second place and a sub-25s time to comfortably secure her place in the semi-final.

She ran just over an hour later, finishing in third place in a time of 24.96s.

She finished just a place outside of the final place by a tantalising four 100dths of a second.

Fellow Harriers sprinter Joy Ogunleye was due to compete in the 60m but had to pull out due to a niggling injury.
