COLCHESTER Harriers' Rebecca Jeggo did herself proud in the British Athletics Indoor Championships, at the Birmingham Arena.

Jeggo clocked a new personal best (PB) time of 24.83 seconds in the 200 metres in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the event, which was broadcast live by the BBC.

She coped admirably and lined up in heat four against opponents who had all represented their respective countries.

With a good start she held her nerve, finishing fourth and placing joint 12th overall.

With the officials unable to separate Jeggo and the other athlete to 1/1000 second, they had the unusual circumstance of flipping a coin to see who would take the final semi-final place.

Jeggo was invited to compete at the event by British Athletics, having gained the qualification standard at the Essex and Eastern Indoor Championships.

She will now head to Sheffield, along with training partner and fellow 200m runner Charlie Dobson and their coach Steve Garnham, to compete in this weekend's English Indoor Age Group Championships.
