COLCHESTER and Tendring Athletic Club's talented athletes bounced back to top form at the Essex Track and Field Relays in Southend.

They came away with 38 medals and a Medley Relay Shield, which should be a big boost for their confidence for next season.

CATs' 4x400 metres relay team of Ami Fosker, Angele Joseph, Georgia Ibbotson and Bethany Ibbotson won gold.

And in the same event, the club's B team of Georgie Sturgeon, Mary-Ann Deasy, Sian Hicks and Phillipa Baxter won silver.

Another win for the club came in the medley women’s relay by the black vests, who stormed to victory to retain the Chelmsford Shield for the second year in succession.

There was also a spirited performance by the women’s CATs' B team who won silver.

The seniors' ladies A team also took gold in the 4x100m relay to make it a total of 20 medals between them.

CATs' under-17 women's 4x100m squad of Kira Wealls, Lauren Woodiwiss, Kadisha Garba and Joy Ogunleye were also in top form, winning silver in a new club record 50.5 seconds.

The under-13 boys did themselves proud in the 4x100m relay, producing a splendid performance.

The team of James Cheeld, Oliver Mitchell, Samuel Shippey and Matthew Brayshaw won gold.

Other medal-winning performance for CATs came from under-15 boys 4x100m team of Alfie Kelway, Thomas Palmer, Lewis Neubronner and Jimi Sijuwola who won silver, the under-15 3x800m team of Thomas Palmer, Alfie Kelway and Ermeas Afewekki who won bronze and the under-13 boys' 3x800m team of Samuel Shippey, Cameron Humphrys and Matthew Brayshaw who claimed silver.

Other CATs teams just missing out on medals were the under-15 girls' 4x100m team of Mya Anderson, Ella Gray, Danielle O’Leary and Mia Patterson who were fourth, the under-17 men's 4x100m team of Akin Akinboah, Harvey Durling, Owen Fookes and Ollie Eves who were fourth and the under-15 girls' 3x800m team of Jennifer Palmer, Amy Thompson and Arya Anderson who were also fourth.

They also competed in the 4x300m relays which included Mary Olaylwola, finishing fourth.
