COLCHESTER Harriers men's and ladies teams both won bronze at the Felstead 10Km Essex Road Championship.

The Green Vests are always to the fore in the road running championships.

And they came away with a double haul of medals, with both teams unfortunate not to claim silver in a very tight contest.

Harriers have been boosted by the signing of young Ramadam Osman, who ran superbly for runners-up spot and an individual silver medal in a fine time of 33 minutes 45 seconds.

Just behind in third place was second claim Harrier Angus Holford, who won bronze in 33m 54s.

Chris Sellens just missed out in fourth place in 34m 01s but took the team bronze medals, along with Colin Ridley (11th, 35m 34s) and Mark Harrod (14th, 35m 46s).

The amazing Colin Ridley, who is well in to his fifties, took the gold medal in his age group with Mark Harrod taking the over-40 silver award.

Sarah Stradling added yet another Championship victory to her long list of achievements, spanning 15 years.

The 41-year-old was well clear of the field winning in 36m 48s to secure a triple medal haul - gold senior, gold veteran and bronze team along with Rebecca Cooke (42m 17s) and Amanda Henry (42m 57s).

Fran Norris took the over-55 bronze in 47m 42s and Arthur Whiston the over 60 bronze in an impressive 42m 04s.

Other Harriers finishers: Paul Rodgers 37-04, Keith Marley 39-25, Wayne Cook 39-46, Simon Smith 40-17, Craig Mitchell 40-42, Jerry Walder 41-33, Richard Millward 41-51, Ady Frost 41-57, Dan Wilkinson 43-01, Annette Osakamn 44-09, Simon Morgan 44-41, Steph Horner 45-54, Clive Thomas 45-54, Becky Bjotter 55-10, Rachel Rodgers 59-43.

Gary Abbott,, Allen Smalls and Chris Manby completed the Welsh 3,000 in 16 hours, in terrible conditions.

At the Colchester Park Run, Cameron Humpfries win for the first time in 18m 08s, with Danny Millward third in 18m 09s, Andy Raynor fourth in 19m 04s and David Wright eighth in 19m 34s.

Personal bests came from Craig Harley (20m 21s) and Andrew Dagge (2m 17s), as 330 runners competed.

In the Race for Life 5km at the Castle Park, Heidi Steele was first home with Sophie Stephenson runner-up.
