FEERING’S Joshua Bain won bronze at the IPC Athletics European Championships, in Italy.

The talented 20-year-old secured a best throw of 44.18 metres in the F37 discus to claim a podium spot on the final day of the event, which was held in Grosseto.

Bain tweeted: “I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! bronze medal, loved this championship. Can’t thank everyone enough!!”.

Bain also competed in the F37 shot putt, where he finished sixth with a first-round best of 11.00m.

The F37 classification, that Bain competes in, is for athletes with cerebral palsy, head injury or stroke who have restricted mobility in an arm and leg on the same side.

More than 600 Para athletes from a total of 36 countries competed over six days of competition at the event staged at the historical Tuscan city, the biggest IPC Athletics European Championships to date.
