COLCHESTER and Tendring Athletic Club celebrated a double gold success at the Essex Schools Athletics Championships at Chelmsford.

Akin Akinboh set a new personal best (PB) of 11.6 seconds on his way to winning the junior boys' 100 metres.

And Joy Ogunleye put in a championship best performance of 12.09s in the 100m intermediate girls' race, to also capture gold in a Championship Best performance.

CATs' middle distance runners also gained medals.

Tom Palmer won 800m bronze in a time of two minutes 04:24s and Ben Miller gained silver in the 1,500m after clocking 4m 11:47s.

Several of the club's athletes turned in good performances, earning themselves PBs in the process.

Owen Fookes (23.58s, 200m), Ella Gray (27.82, 200m), Alfie Kelway (hurdles, 12.96s), Lauren Woodiwiss (200m, 26.73s) and Elsie Gray (1,500m, (5m 00:84s) all produced good times.
