THE Stour Valley Marathon was run in very hot conditions over a tough, hilly multi-terrain course.

Tiptree Road Runner Paul Dellar took 12th place in four hours and 47 seconds, Tracy Harrington 4h 36m, Mark Lawes 4h 38m and Wendy Smalley 6h 40m.

Tiptree runners were busy at other events over the weekend.

At the Bedgebury half-marathon, a hilly off-road event, Anthony Knight and Tina Clarke ran 2h 12m 4s.

Gary Perryman finished the Kirton Friday 5 in 36m 24s and at the multi-terrain Henham 10K, Simon Morgan ran 43m 59s, Abigail Morgan 50m 59s and Dawn Shilling 1h 2m 9s.

Rob Hadgraft, on holiday in Lanzarote, finished the La Santa Sport 5K in 24m 30s and Roger Duffield finished the Silver End Scouts four-mile race in 39m 17s.

In local Parkruns, Jonathan Finch finished the Colchester event in 20m 41s, with Gary Perryman running 21m 57s and Sean Pope 28m 22s.

At Maldon Prom, Malcolm Bailey finished in 23m 3s, followed by Stuart Meddemmen 25m 58s, David Stokes 27m 41s and Peter Banks 30m 43s.

Tim Ford completed the Netley Abbey Parkrun in 27m 10s.
