COLNES Angling Society held their third annual charity match, for Cancer Research UK.

It was organised by Peter Pound, along with match secretary Kevin Dewsnip, and made a record £533.

This was an increase on the previous two years' totals.

Twenty-three people took part.

Thanks were extended to those who attended and all those businesses and individuals who donated prizes for the raffle. The overall winner was Neil Hood, with 25lb.

In second was Tim Sage, with 23lb, and in third was Keith Adams, with 22lb.

There were also four section winners.

Members are also reminded that the close season on the rivers ended on June 16, which now gives members the opportunity to fish six stretches of the Stour in the Bures area, totalling over three miles, and also a stretch of the River Colne that runs adjacent to Tey Road in Earls Colne.
