Connor Wickham can make the grade for England, according to Blues team-mate David Wright.
The former Colchester schoolboy scored a last-gasp winner as Ipswich pipped Scunthorpe 1-0 on Saturday.
It his first league goal, following a brace in Town’s Carling Cup win at Shrewsbury in August.
And when asked whether the striker could win England caps, Wright said: “There’s no reason why not. It’s all in his head, though.
“Physically, he’s got all the attributes and if he knuckles down and works his socks off he’s got a real chance to have a great future.
“Obviously, he’s a very good player.
“He showed great composure when he got his chance and that shows a very good side to him.
“But we all need to remember he’s only 16."
