Shane O’Connor could be the answer to a season-long dilemma, according to Blues boss Roy Keane.
Town have struggled down the left and never had a regular full-back on that side.
David Wright, Damien Delaney, Jaime Peters and Jack Colback have played there but either been used sparingly or found their niche elsewhere.
O’Connor, though, could be the solution after another impressive display in Tuesday’s 2-0 win against Cardiff.
It came hot on the heels of other eye-catching performances on his debut at Sheffield Wednesday and the draw at Scunthorpe.
And Keane believes the Irishman could have a bright future at Portman Road.
“Young Shane’s got a chance,” said the Town boss, who like his player hails from Cork.
“He’s what we’ve missed in terms of balance down the left-hand side.
