Kevin Lisbie is fired-up and ready to send former club Colchester United out of the Carling Cup.
But the Ipswich Town marksman – up against his old side for the first time – will not be celebrating if he grabs a goal in tonight’s second-round showdown at Portman Road.
The Londoner swapped clubs during the summer and has far too much respect for his former employers to rub salt in their wounds.
However, he insists his only priority has to be getting Ipswich back on track after the setback of Saturday’s dismal 2-0 defeat at home to Wolves.
He told the Gazette: “It was very disappointing and now, as far as I’m concerned, we absolutely have to beat Colchester.
“I can’t even begin to imagine any other result.
“Losing two home games is a blow, but hopefully we can try and make up for it in some way tonight.
“At one stage I felt uncomfortable about playing in the game – I think a lot of players must feel that way when they come up against an old side.
“But after what happened at the weekend we need to win and I want to be part of it.”
