Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham has completed an £8.1 million move to Sunderland, signing a four-year-deal at the Stadium of Light.

The fee will rise to more than £12 million after additional clauses relating to appearances and achievements are triggered.

Wickham is a former pupil at Philip Morant School in Colchester.

I think he went pretty cheaply compared to some of the stupid prices being banded about for wanna-be's or has-been's. Still, good luck to him.

He was never in Colchester United's academy.He was actually playing youth football at Reading, but don't let the facts get in the way of your baseless rumors and beliefs!!!

I got it from an ex-pupil at Philip Morant. I don't dispute that he played youth football at Reading. Presumably he joined there after being rejected by CUFC.
I add that I do not know the Wickham family and the Philip Morant pupil was a couple of years junior to young Connor, so if someone who really does know the full story will tell us more, of course I will withdraw my comment.
