Colchester made heavy work of their final East Women's League division one north game of the season against derby rivals Ipswich and East Suffolk, drawing 1-1.
The hosts dominated the early possession and looked the most likely to open the scoring with some neat interplay between the midfield and the forwards.
Unfortunately, they were up against an in form IES keeper who managed to block everything that came her way, including a fine save at the far post from a Louise Bibby effort.
Against the run of play, IES took the lead with a quick break and fine shot to beat Colchester keeper Kate Mead.
Colchester continued to pressurise for the rest of the half but were unable to find the back of the net and went in at half-time trailing 1-0.
The second half continued with Colchester dominating possession and limiting IES to break away opportunities.
Colchester went close on numerous occasions but with time running out, Helen Wall neatly controlled a loose ball and struck her shot past the keeper, much to the relief of the home side.
The game finished with an inevitable draw, a fair result on the day, leaving Colchester fourth place in the league at the end of the season.
