Promotion push with Puma
Colchester United are hoping a return to an all-yellow away strip will help recreate their glory days.
The U's have bagged a four-year deal with sportswear giants Puma, who will supply the club's match, training and youth-team kit from next season.
The link-up includes a return to a yellow away strip for the club - colours that proved popular during their previous promotion-winning campaign in 2005/6.
Colchester last wore an all-yellow away strip at Yeovil Town, where a goal-less draw at Huish Park helped seal their elevation to the Coca-Cola Championship.
And, after an absence of two years, boss Geraint Williams is hoping the club's deal with Puma will coincide with the success the U's enjoyed two years ago.
Williams said: "We're delighted to be with a company with the reputation of Puma.
"It's important to walk on to the field feeling good and this kit will play its part.
"I am sure it will prove popular with both our players and fans alike."
Puma currently provides kit for the likes of Italy, Switzerland and Austria, in addition to club sides such as Tottenham Hotspur.
And, with the club in good company, Colchester chief executive Marie Partner feels the club have struck a fruitful deal.
She said: "We're delighted about our association with Puma.
"Their business has always been renowned for its quality of sportswear as it's worn by some of the top sporting teams in the world.
"With a continued passion for delivering new ideas in an industry that is fast evolving, we know that Puma's ambitions will match our own to succeed."
Head of Sport for Puma UK Richard Callaway said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us and will provide great exposure for Puma in and around Essex.
"We are delighted to be the technical kit sponsor for Colchester United and are looking forward to working with the club and its fans over the next four seasons.
"With great kit and excellent service, we're sure our partnership will be a successful one."

All I can say is thank goodness we are not wearing red next season given our awful record in that colour in the past two seasons (admittedly our record in ANY colour last season was awful!).
Many good memories of the yellow kit, the draw at Yeovil which clinched promotion and of course the Chelsea game immediately spring to mind. Lets hope in about a year's time we have some more good memories of that colour.

I just heard that if we draw at home in the Carling Cup we will probably have to play the game at Portman Road as Cuckoo Farm might not have its event license in place. I feel sick, really sick.

I would feel sick too SIAII but good news is at hand!
Months ago we were given permission to play whoever we draw in the Carling Cup (12th/13th August) at their place, and we will definitely be away from home on the opening day of the season on the 9th August!
The first home game will be on the 16th August, if there is still the problem of the event license theres always the option of reversing the fixtures with whoever we are due to play that day, as Coventry did a few years back when their new ground wasn't quite ready.

Your right! The report has been amended to include that as an option. I would personally rather see us having to travel to Australia to play that game than see us "hosting" a game in Suffolk.

Going back to the Carling Cup thing, saw this on the East Anglian today and it baffles me that it appears Ipswich have been approached about playing a game there.

If this cannot happen might I suggest Wivenhoe as an alternative venue, a first round Carling Cup tie is not going to draw a big crowd anyway so Portman Road is totally the wrong venue in every possible sense.
