Year of managerial upheavals
Witham Town secured their Ryman League division one north status for another season - despite more managerial turbulence.
Town had started the season looking for stability, especially given the previous campaign had been interrupted by the loss of boss Russell Tanner and a host of the club's first-team players.
However, a solid enough start - helped chiefly by goals from Kevin Hawes and Jamie Ricks - was suddenly turned on its head by the resignation of first-team manager Ken O'Donnell, following the home defeat at the hands of Arlesey Town in January.
Chairman Tony Last took charge of the side and working with goalkeeper Paul Daley as his assistant, attempted to steady the ship.
Kaan Hawes and Kevin Hawes both departed Spa Road, as did Ricks to Maldon Town.
And the abandonment of the Essex derby with Canvey Island after ugly scenes involving spectators and players was hardly the greatest day in the club's history.
But gradually, Witham assembled a squad which was capable of securing the necessary results.
The arrival of Nathan Fletcher, Rhys Madden and Michael Toner from Waltham Forest helped to lift the club up the table.
And the form of Cody McDonald was also a big reason for Town establishing their place in the division for another season.
McDonald was unsurprisingly voted by his team-mates as player-of-the-year, after scoring 24 goals in his 50 appearances for the club.
The likes of Grant O'Donnell, Joe Smith and Nathan Sharp have also made valid contributions for Town, helping them secure a final position of 16th in the division one north table.
Last and Daley have been confirmed as Witham's management duo for next season.
And after adjusting their squad, the pair will be hoping to achieve at least a top-ten finish next time around.
