Colchester United manager John Ward was full of praise for his side's defensive display following their 1-0 triumph at Walsall this afternoon.
Andrew Bond's late goal gave the U's victory at the Bescot Stadium and moved them up to fifth in the table, with their first clean sheet in npower league one.
Ward said: “I'm delighted.
“We had talked about the aspect of conceding late goals in the build-up to the game.
“But we found a late goal and we defended stoutly throughout.
“Both teams had a chance or two but in the main, our defending was excellent and we don't need to talk about conceding late goals now."
