Colchester United manager John Ward was full of praise for his side's defensive display following their 1-0 triumph at Walsall this afternoon.
Andrew Bond's late goal gave the U's victory at the Bescot Stadium and moved them up to fifth in the table, with their first clean sheet in npower league one.
Ward said: “I'm delighted.
“We had talked about the aspect of conceding late goals in the build-up to the game.
“But we found a late goal and we defended stoutly throughout.
“Both teams had a chance or two but in the main, our defending was excellent and we don't need to talk about conceding late goals now."

I get lots of flack back being a COL UTD supporter. The only trouble is for every story the local rag prints they get over 500 to 600 people responding. Yes good result for us Saturday ,but I tend to agree with Surb regards Wordsworth. Not enough aggression from him and gets cocky and lazy. Needs to be like Henderson buzzing around peoples ankles non stop. Watched Saints game on Saturday but got beaten by a very good Rochdale team. Looking forward to the game down here in two weeks time. Hope their bad form continues.
Not heard from "Crazy" from Hythe Nr Southampton yet !!! .....The silence is deafning.

Just one point off top spot, with all the so called big guns all losing it was a great two point gain on them all.
After the five games and watching all the competitors I honestly think we are in with a great shout this season.
Up the U's!
