Marc Tierney has insisted he will not hold Colchester United to ransom over his future.

The popular left-back is out of contract with the U’s at the end of the season and is yet to agree on a new deal.

Since contract negotiations with previous manager Aidy Boothroyd broke down at the end of last season, any formal talks on Tierney’s U’s future have been put on hold.

However, the former Oldham Athletic trainee has stressed that he is comfortable with the current situation.

And the 25-year-old is willing to resuming talks with manager John Ward and chairman Robbie Cowling at any time.

Tierney told the Gazette: “I will leave it up to the manager to sit down and talk to me if and when he decides the time is right.

“But I won’t be holding the club to ransom or anything like that.

“I still have until the end of this season left on my contract and it’s an exciting time to be at Colchester.

“I’ve loved every minute of it and I won’t do anything to upset anyone.

“I have a brilliant relationship with the manager and the chairman."
