U's boss Boothroyd fuming after Carlisle defeat

Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd pulled no punches after seeing his side beaten 2-1 by Carlisle United at Brunton Park.

The U's boss was not impressed after the U's surrendered a one-goal advantage to lose to the Cumbrians.

Boothroyd said: "It was one of the most disappointing games that I've had since I've been here.

"A lot of people came to support us a very long way.

"We had a tough game and we got a break with a man being sent off.

"We played very well in the first half without scoring and we managed to go ahead but after 25 minutes of the second half, we took it too lightly.

"We let them back into the game and we allowed the crowd to get up.

"We were just very, very average."

Colchester now lie fifth in Coca-Cola League One, with 11 games of the league season to go.

Manager Boothroyd has called for more consistency from his promotion-chasing side, in the final run-in.

"Promotion isn't easy – you have to make sure that you're consistent in what you do and against Carlisle, we weren't consistent," he said.

"I have absolutely no idea that with the quality of player at my disposal how we concede two goals, having gone 1-0 up.

"Thankfully, I'm a sensible person and I'll have a look at the game again.

"But I think we thought it was too easy - that we went 1-0 up and that was it.

"Nobody gives you anything though and we have to make sure we learn that lesson very quickly."

Aidy you have let Medy and Simon go out on loan. Both play wide and thats what we are missing width someone who can get balls to the byline and get crosses in. Both these players made contributions to the goals in the teams they were playing for yesterday. Medy scored a goal and Hackney made the cross for the other one. Hopefully you will see the replay of Hackneys cross pulled back and the sort of ball that any of our forwards would simply die for. Thats why Norwich are where they are now because you need balls pulled back for fowards and not just humped up the middle for them to chase after. We have the players to do the job but they also need the supply of balls put across the face of the goal to score.

Didn't take you long to mention the budgies again Crazy. I hope you don't watch cricket too, because I don't think I could listen to a whole summer of you.

No body asks you to read what I comment on. Its just true facts matey. Every goal scored by Narwich as you like to call them yesterday was a ball pulled back for the onrushing forwards to slot home, showing exactly how you carve openings out and score goals. I honestly dont think you have a bloody clue about football, much like Boothroyd just lately.

Come on chaps lets not get personal we are all angry and concearned at the dissapionting displays by the U's . I really do like to read all the banter it helps to dull the pain of bad results. It seems that Col utd have been punching above their weight for most of this season, but none the less, its all we have got, I am a Colcester fan full stop. Good luck to Norwich, Ipswich, etc, etc.

Stuff entertaining. Col U are my team win, lose or draw. Promotion or relegation. Championship or Conference. Whenever I watch them
I'm watching them for my Dad, my mates, my family that have all passed over. Also, the people listening in on Hospital Radio and BBC Essex. Those who can't afford to go anymore.
Those who are still whingeing, where can I park, do please shutup. At least you get the chance to watch the mighty U's :)
