Christian Ribeiro completed a whirlwind loan move to Colchester United – and then had to perform an embarrassing initiation song in front of his new team-mates.
The attacking right-back has joined the U’s on a month’s loan from Bristol City and made a competent debut in their 0-0 draw at Gillingham.
The 20-year-old will only take part in his first training session with his new team-mates today, having been thrown in at the deep end at Priestfield.
Ribeiro met his new Colchester team-mates little more than 24 hours after playing against the Gills.
And one of his first duties was to sing a song, replicating the traditional ritual performed by new Chelsea signings.
Ribeiro said: “I had to sing “We are the Champions” – nice and easy!"

Regards Holt yes it was a sending off on Saturday but what he does do is put himself about by closing down players, gets in the box and never stops running. If he had signed for us at the start of the season you would be jumping for joy if he had scored 20 goals or more. Twice the player off Platt & Okyja put together. Why are people always keen to knock people that are successfull. I never liked the way Lambert left but no doubts in my mind he will go to the top and deserve it. If I was watching my team playing like Norwich I would be chuffed to bits. Leeds are the same. You only had to watch the game on TV on Sunday to see how well organised they are and they pass the ball around and kep possesion. I will support my team to my dying days but I will always admire people that do well. You only achieve that by hardwork and some of the Colchester United players need a bullit up their backsides regards fitness levels. Its a bloody joke at the moment all these midfielders being signed up another one today I see. Ifill will never be a winger. We were better when Lisbie was playing wide at least he made openings and could beat people. Lets see tonight what happens and im hoping for a win by at least 3 goals tonight.
I think Crazy will be unavailable for comment on tomorrow nights' game due to commitments at Walsall ;)
