Coyne leaves Colchester

Chris Coyne has left Colchester United.

The Australia defender, who had been the U’s club captain, has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

He has been linked with a move back to the Australian A-League and Perth Glory.

Coyne, 30, experienced an interrupted second season at Colchester, with his international commitments for the Socceroos, coupled with injuries, hampering his involvement with Paul Lambert’s side.

His last appearance for Colchester came in their final home game of the season, the 1-0 defeat against Peterborough United.

Coyne was signed for a then club record £350,000 from Luton Town by former U’s boss Geraint Williams in January, 2008.

He made his U’s debut in their 1-1 draw at Bristol City, in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Former West Ham United youngster Coyne went on to make his Socceroos debut against Iraq in June, 2008.

He has played a big part in Australia’s qualification for next year’s World Cup Finals and will be hoping to be involved in South Africa.

Coyne made 38 league and cup appearances for Colchester, scoring once.

What has happened to the proposed new signing of Williams the goal keeper.also good luck to Chris Coyne. He was never liked by Lambert and im sure he will do better playing elsewhere.

Why does this local paper always seem so slow with any Col utd football latest news of whats going on. The clubs website is also pathetic. We have had no news regards the goal keeper williams signing yet the Carlisle Utd web site has stated that Williams has signed a two year contract with us. Any one else feels the same way as i do.

Good luck Chris Coyne, you were not good enough to play for us but you are good enough to go to the World Cup Finals, something that most League 1 players can only dream of.

Well good luck but this is one player I wont miss.

How bizzare though, cant make an impact at a struggling League 1 side but is on for a place at the World Cup.

The local newspaper in Norwich states that Brian Gunn is now interested in Clive Platt. Again the Col supporters are left in the dark of whats happening. Must admit not to many centre forwards available, though it seems Brighton may pull of a coup if they sign Dickerson,

They both then proceeded to the nearest greasy spoon where they were both met by the Harwich & Parkeston number three.
