EIGHT Harwich and Dovercourt Rugby Club coaches made the grade after achieving their next coaching qualification.

Two years ago, the club set out to encourage more individuals from within to complete their RFU badges.

The aim of this drive was simple - to provide a higher standard of coaching within the club and a sustainable future for rugby within the community.

Now eight of their coaches have successfully completed the England Rugby level two coaching award and they were Alex Cullen, Emma Simons, Josh Edwards, Matt Rozier, Simon Woodley, Robert Edgar, Tim Flatt and Yas Amber.

They all completed the three-day England Rugby course.

As a result, Harwich now have ten level two coaches.

The accredited level two qualification provides coaches with the knowledge, skills and attributes to effectively coach young players or adults in the 15-a-side game.

The course also develops coaching skills and the technical and tactical aspects of defence and attack, together with unit skills and developing play from set piece.

The eight coaches will now be filtered into all sections of the club, to help youth, women’s and men’s players develop.

Club chairman Barry Male is extremely thankful for the time and effort the coaches have invested to gain their qualifications and looks forward supporting the next group of individual looking to complete their coaching awards.
