COLCHESTER and Tendring Athletic Club's youngsters enjoyed some excellent victories at their Eastern Young Athletes League meeting at Thurrock.

They also claimed a number of personal bests (PBs) to make it overall a good day for the black vests.

CATs were led by Ella Gray who clocked 27.7 seconds in the under-17 200 metres and Lauren Woodiwiss in the under-17 200m (26.5s).

Molly Redgrave sliced six seconds off her PB in the under-13 girls' 800m after running two minutes 44.1s, while Daniella O'Leary equalled her 100m PB in (13.4s).

Sam Gardiner competed for the first time in the under-17 400m (56.0s) and 800m (2m 10.2s) while Owen Fookes ran 52m 5s in the under-17 400m.

Thomas Palmer cruised to victory in the under-17 800m in 2m 04.07s, as did Kiera-Jayne Atkinson in the under-13 1,500m (5m 10.5s).

There were also good performances from Stefan Godron (under-17 javelin, 37.5m), Bradley Hicks (under-17 discus, 19.5m) and Ebba Paterson (under-15 girls' 300m, 46.3s).
