STEPHEN Allen made the best of the good scoring conditions to win Playgolf Colchester Club Presidents Putter medal strokeplay competition.

Allen (15) blazed a trail with some superb golf to take pole position on countback from Matt Clark (18), after both players carded nett 66.

Allen carded seven pars, bolstered by a pair of par four birdies.

Clark carded six pars and a par three birdie on the 14th but with a triple, double and bogey finish over his final three holes, any countback decision was always a long shot.

Both players receive a shot handicap cut for next time out.

Junior member Jack Moutell (seven) recorded his latest impressive score by shooting the lowest gross, earning third place with his superb gross 74.

His card included ten pars, and three back nine, par four birdies.

The 2016 presidents putter title was a three-way tie, with countback needed to separate John Frost, Stephen Allen and Steve Peeling, after all had 27 putts. Peeling deservedly took the countback decision, needing only eight putts on the last six holes.

The Playgolf senior stableford was won by Bernard Keyes who managed to record a fine 39 points in division one.

Robin Kilburn was runner-up with 37 points ahead of vice-captain Michael Johnson, who was third.

Robert Price won division two with an excellent 39 points, who was three points ahead of Anthony Nudds.

Geoffrey Tredgett was third on countback demoting Harry Eels to fourth, after both players carded 34 points.

Kilburn, Nudds, Alan Cole and David Needham all won a sleeve of three balls, in the 2’s-ball competition.

Kyung Cho took the course by storm, winning the Ladies Medal competition.

She carded two nett eagles, nine nett birdies and three nett pars, resulting in an amazing round of ten under Competition Scratch Score (CSS) nett 62.

That gave her an emphatic victory and earn a four-shot handicap cut.

Judith Peeling was her nearest rival with a respectable nett 75.

Gina Macmillan took third on countback from Ann Longman, after both players carded nett 76.

Joka Fayers won division two after recording an excellent one over CSS 73 to take the top spot, with Catherine Le Tue runner-up with nett 77.
