Maldon and Tiptree left it late to grab the bragging rights against visiting Brightlingsea Regent.

Maldon secured a Ryman League division north 1-0 victory at Park Drive.

The Jammers took the lead and the win with a great effort when Billy Roast fired in a bicycle kick at the far post on 85 minutes.

Brightlingsea were then reduced to ten men when Josh Gould was sent off two minutes later.

It wasn’t a good afternoon for Witham Town as they fell to a heavy 5-0 defeat against visiting Aveley.

The match started at a fast pace as Aveley’s Michael Pindy was prevented a goal-scoring opportunity in the first two minutes by a good tackle in the penalty area.

But two minutes later Aveley took the lead when Pindy fed the ball to Alex Teniola who fired home.

On nine minutes a good ball was played down the wing by Abs Seymour to Pindy.

Witham keeper Lewis Downs closed him down but Pindy managed to squeeze a shot around him but Lance Akins was able to clear the ball.

On 20 minutes Witham almost equalised.

Mason Bloomfield’s shot beat Aveley keeper Bobby Mason but the ball hit the base of the post.

Downs was then called on to make a superb fingertip save from a great shot from Liam Nash on 32 minutes.

Seven minutes later a great defensive header away from Perry Dunn sparked an Aveley counterattack.

Arian Retkoceri attempt to fire the ball into the top corner of the Witham goal but it just went wide.

After the break, Aveley increased their lead when Nash beat the Witham defence and fired home on the near post on 50 minutes.

Substitute David Fallah made an instant impact when he came on to pitch.

It took him forty seconds to put Aveley 3-0 up as he fired into the bottom corner on 66 minutes.

Aveley then took a 4-0 lead when Billy Coyne crossed to the back post and Retkoceri tapped the ball into the bottom corner on 77 minutes.

It got worse for Witham when, three minutes later, Fallah headed home his second of the afternoon for a 5-0 lead.

Heybridge Swifts fell to a 4-2 defeat at Cheshunt.

Swifts took the lead on 20 minutes through Jack Barham.

But the lead only lasted eight minutes as Jason Hallett equalised for Cheshunt.

Adam Bolle then put the home side in front on 39 minutes.

Swifts went further behind on 50 minutes when Hallett got his second of the match to make it 3-1.

Heybridge didn’t let their heads drop and Tyrone Scarlett pulled a goal back on 60 minutes.

But Liam Hope restored Cheshunt’s two-goal advantage when Liam Hope scored on 71 minutes.

Cheshunt went down to ten men on George Pullen was sent off on 79 minutes but they held on to their lead and the win.
