Garry Kimble is demanding a “vast improvement” from his Witham Town team as they return to Ryman League division north action against Redbridge tonight.

The Town boss was disappointed with his team’s second-half display against Romford on Saturday as they saw a three-goal lead overturned after the break in a 3-3 draw.

The strong wind blowing in their faces for the second 45 minutes didn’t help Witham’s cause but Kimble is demanding better from his players.

He said: “We have to show a vast improvement from what we did in the second half against Romford.

“I know the wind played a part but we should never have conceded three goals.

“They scored three in 20 minutes, simple as that and it was hard to take.

“Had we got three points, we’d have been sitting 17th (in the table).

“If we win on Tuesday it will be four points out of six, but if we put in a performance like we did in the second half on Saturday then we’ll get nothing.

“It just wasn’t good enough – it was naive “At three-nil up, we should have been able to defend that.

“They scored in the 69th minute to make it three-one and our defending from set-pieces and in open play was attrocious.

“I need men out there – too many of them hide.”

Witham are currently three places and four points above the drop zone and Kimble didn’t expect John Watson, Mitch Hunter, George Cocklin and Tom Cocklin to be available to face Redbridge due to injuries.
